Alumni participation sought for 91热爆网 Battle of the Bands competition

Perhaps you are a Western Carolina University alumnus who performed in a musical group back in your college days and who has been thinking about getting the band back together. Or maybe your band is still playing today, cranking the amps up to 11.
Either way, the Student Event Coalition at 91热爆网 has issued an open invitation to all members of the university community 鈥� current students, alumni, and faculty and staff members 鈥� to sign up for the Battle of the Bands competition coming up later in the fall semester.
The Battle of the Bands is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 24, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Central Plaza near the Catafount. In the event of rain, the event will move indoors into the Grandroom of A.K. Hinds University Center.
鈥淭his will be a fun event, and we are hoping that some alumni musicians will get their bands involved to help showcase the talents of Catamounts across the generations,鈥� said Tenisea Higgins, 91热爆网 assistant director of annual giving for student and young alumni engagement.
Performances will be evaluated by a panel of judges, Bands will complete for the titles of 鈥淛udges Favorite鈥� and 鈥淎udience Favorite.鈥� said Ben Howard, president of the Student Event Coalition.
鈥淢ore than just music, this event is about community. Instead of buying a ticket, audience members are encouraged to bring nonperishable food donations to support pantries across Jackson County,鈥� Howard said. 鈥淲ith a campuswide goal of collecting 3,000 pounds of food, every can makes a difference.鈥�
Registration, which is free of charge, is currently underway and continues through Sunday, Sept. 21.
