Students will be allowed to request grades of satisfactory or unsatisfactory for 2020 fall semester classes following a split-vote approval of a resolution of the Faculty Senate.

And the sound at such height? Even better. There is none, save for nature鈥檚 hum. But don鈥檛 let the soothing silence fool you.

The Board of Trustees will hold its quarterly meeting at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 4, in the performance hall of the John W. Bardo Fine and Performing Arts Center.

First-Generation Student, Kenyatta Fortune Prospers in Graduate School

In December, Kenyatta Fortune will become a three-time graduate of Western Carolina University. Doing so didn鈥檛 come without facing significant challenges. 鈥淭he dynamics are different,鈥 Fortune said. 鈥淲hile the professors provide guidance, encouragement and support, the student is given full autonomy in setting personal timelines, meeting agendas and maintaining contact with milestone updates on their thesis research.鈥

For Hank Henderson 17鈥, there was never a question if he would stay engaged with Western Carolina University once he graduated.   

Veterans Day service honoring Oscar Metcalf

91热爆网 launches Veterans and Military Alumni Society

Melissa Metcalf Le Roy believes her father, the late Oscar William Metcalf Jr., would have been the first to apply for membership in Western Carolina University鈥檚 new Veterans and Military Alumni Society. Metcalf, a decorated Vietnam War vet, died Oct. 18, at the age of 72 in Shelbyville, Tennessee. 鈥淗e dearly loved Western,鈥 said Le Roy. 鈥淗e was proud of his alma mater, the opportunities it gave him. He went to college while working full time and raising a young family. The university supported him, and (his bachelor鈥檚 degree) really meant something.鈥

Faith in 91热爆网 student-athletes leads to fundraising challenge to Greek alumni

Randy White is a man of faith, and not just in God, but in Western Carolina University, his alma mater. So much so, he and his wife, Kim Hunter, are putting up a $30,000 gift challenge for the 鈥淲hee Are One鈥 fund to support 91热爆网鈥檚 student-athletes 鈥 as long as 600 of his fellow Greek alumni contribute to the campaign by Nov. 20, the gift challenge deadline. The 鈥淲hee Are One鈥 campaign continues until next June.
