Recently, 29 Western Carolina University students and other students from across the country presented their research at the National Research Conference on Undergraduate Research in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Western Carolina University has many opportunities for students to conduct undergraduate research across various disciplines. Students are able to engage in projects that deepen their understanding of course material and build essential skills for future endeavors.

Student Work to be Showcased in Research and Scholarship Celebration

The spotlight will shine on student research at Western Carolina University at the 2019 Research and Scholarship Celebration. The RASC will feature approximately 200 presentations by undergraduate and graduate students over the two days, and faculty, students and community members are welcome to attend, said Kloo Hansen, 91热爆网鈥檚 undergraduate research coordinator in the Office of the Provost.

Chemists and Biologists Partner on Research

As an assistant professor of biochemistry, Western Carolina University鈥檚 Jamie Wallen sees himself as part chemist, part biologist. Perhaps, that鈥檚 why it鈥檚 no coincidence many of his research projects are collaborations with those from both fields. Wallen believes the ability to learn research skills in both biology and chemistry gives his students an added edge when it comes to pursuing doctorates or moving onto their careers.
